Stunner at the Legislature as AVL District Bill Defeated | WCQS

In a stunning defeat, the North Carolina House voted down a bill that would have made changes to the Asheville city council. Check out the audio for the House debate around Senate Bill 897.  It looks like even some Republicans are waking up and moving away from the reckless, heavy-handed local government meddling that gave us House Bill 2.  This could be an important turning point for the NC Legislature.  And it’ s a great way to head into Statewide Elections Season.  The Democrats are in a great position to pick up some seats this November– and maybe the Governorship too!

New Old Bike!  Was $200 (tax included).  A little rust– will need to replace the cables pretty soon, but otherwise the frame, fork, handlebars, derailleur and crank are all in good shape as far as I can tell.  Will need to put fenders and a rack on it too, and get a U-lock and maybe get a new set of tires eventually…  It felt good to ride into school this morning.

Also, my analog journals arrived in the mail yesterday, so we’ll see how that affects my blogging habits…
